Oregano's Many Healthful Uses

The leaves of various species of oregano (Origanum genus) have been traditionally used for respiratory and digestive system ailments, and as an antiseptic for fighting infection. These uses date back to the famous Greek physician Hippocrates.

Traditionally taken in tea form, oregano has been used to treat colds, flu, fevers, indigestion, gas and bloating and painful menstruation. It is also a mild sedative and can be used to promote sleep.

  1. Donna, recently I read about using oil of oregano instead of antibiotics, so I emailed the company who had this information in their ad to inquire as to how to do this and was told to take 2 drops 4 x per day.

    I always have to be pre-medicated with a dose of antibiotics before any dental work and I really dislike having to do that as it messes up my body.

    Well this time the dental work was invasive and I had only taken the premeds, as I hadn't been prescribed anything further.

    Within a couple of days, I could feel inflammation in my chest so I immediately began taking the oil of oregano drops as specified and by the third day all inflammation was gone. I took the drops in a glass of water. Blessings, Genevieve
